Saint Albert is the patron of students, philosophers, and scientists. His medal depicts him with a quill writing a treatise, perhaps on sound and sense, the sensation of memory, or sleep and waking. He was a professor of Theology, and his expertise involved grammar, logic, rhetoric, arithmetic, geometry, astronomy, and music. He was primarily known for and became officially canonized as the patron saint of physical science.
